Northeast Delta Dental Foundation has awarded a $12,500 grant to Dental Lifeline Network • Maine to help vulnerable individuals in the state get critical dental care through the Donated Dental Services (DDS) program.

The grant will help 111 people receive $250,000 in comprehensive dental care. Dental Lifeline Network appreciates the invaluable support of Northeast Dental Foundation. The funds will support the coordination of services provided through 153 dentists and 17 dental laboratories who volunteer for DDS in Maine. DDS volunteers donate comprehensive treatment to people with disabilities or who are elderly or medically fragile.

“Through this $12,500 grant, Northeast Delta Dental Foundation has enabled Dental Lifeline Network • Maine to expand the impact of Maine’s DDS program,” said Dr. Dean Tourigny, Chair of the Dental Lifeline Network • Maine Leadership Council. “These funds will support the coordination of our volunteer dentists and labs, and will be critical for reaching our neighbors who need help.”

The Maine DDS program has provided over $5.8 million in donated services to over 1,600 patients since it began in 1999. The Northeast Delta Dental Foundation’s grant is a significant contribution to the cumulative national progress made for the DDS program. For over 35 years, DLN has partnered with volunteer dentists, laboratories, and strategic corporate partners across the country and connected people with special needs to comprehensive dentistry, amounting to almost $522 million dollars in donated treatment for 168,000 participants.

“The Donated Dental Services program and its volunteers are vital to our mission of increasing access to oral health care,” said Jennifer McGrath, Manager, Foundation & Marketing Initiatives, Northeast Delta Dental. “We are proud to support their efforts on behalf of the program participants in Maine.”
