After scooping Product Launch of the Year at the Dental Industry Awards, we speak to Ross Walker about what makes Clinisept+ Mouthwash so innovative.

Congratulations on winning Product Launch of the Year. How does it feel to have won?

I and the rest of the Clinisept+ Dental team are absolutely delighted! It’s a great achievement and one which we are very proud of.

What is Clinisept+ and why is it so innovative?

Clinisept+ Mouthwash is a high purity hypochlorous solution that delivers highly effective cleansing and microbial control whilst maintaining complete oral compatibility.

Clinisept+ is so innovative because it contains a significantly higher proportion of hypochlorous. More than other hypochlorous chemistries are able to.

By comparison Clinisept+ is manufactured in a completely new and unique method. It provides far greater purity, stability, efficacy and safety.

Because of its purity we are able to use it at low concentrations and it doesn’t stain teeth or affect patients’ taste. Even after protracted use.

There are so many ‘game changing’ dental products on the market at the moment. Do you have any evidence to back up Clinisept+?

Yes, not only did we spend years developing Clinisept+, but we spent years validating it too.

Its antimicrobial performance is proven via independent EN testing including EN14476 against viruses – which it passes in a fraction of the permitted contact time – and its oral and mucosal compatibility has been validated by toxicity and sensitisation testing.

We also tested it against ‘traditional’ hypochlorous products using spectroscopy analysis. This verifies that it contains a far greater molecular hypochlorous content than other hypochlorous products available.

This is more than another mouthwash then? Can patients use it on a daily basis and what type of treatment are you aiming it at?

Yes, Clinisept+ Mouthwash can either be used on a daily basis for improved general oral hygiene, or it can be used to address a particular situation, or following a dental procedure to help provide microbial control whilst the gums and mouth recover.

Many dentists also recommend it to patients who suffer from ulcers or sensitive mouths and gums. It quickly calms sore skin and reduces the incidence of them reoccurring.

What are your plans for the future of Clinisept+?

We have big plans for Clinisept+ and will be extending our reach into the UK and international dental markets.

Many of the UK’s top dentists are using the mouthwash already. But in five years’ time, we hope it will have become one of the staple products that dentists rely on to provide unsurpassed patient protection and care during post-visit recovery.

Why do you think you won the award?

I think because Clinisept+ is recognised as a genuine step forward in dental hygiene.

We all understand the limitations of traditional mouthwashes. But until now there hasn’t been a suitable alternative to take their place.

Clinisept+ fills this void and brings incremental benefits too.

I would just like to congratulate the dental industry as a whole for its fortitude during these very challenging times.
