The inaugural Clinical Skills Day on Friday 12 June is your opportunity to see Mike Gow talk about managing anxious dental patients.

Mike has trained in a number of different techniques including conscious sedation and dental hypnosis.

During this presentation, Mike will talk about some practical and clinical tips he has picked up. This includes:

  • Local anaesthetic techniques
  • Material choices
  • Rapport and communication skills.

More about Mike Gow

Mike is a general dental practitioner and clinical director of the Dental Anxiety Management unit at The Berkeley Clinic in Glasgow.

After graduating from Glasgow University’s Dental School in 1999, Mike completed a masters in hypnosis applied to dentistry from the University of London. Later he achieved a postgraduate certificate in the management of dental anxiety from the University of Edinburgh.

Mike’s main focus in his work is to help people overcome their fear of dentistry. He has therefore continually trained in his field to develop a wide range of techniques, which he uses to treat the individual needs of his patients. He has consequently published many papers and book chapters on hypnosis, dental phobia management and bruxism.

The very first online Clinical Skills Day is on Friday 12 June and is completely free to attend.

Aimed at the whole team, the Clinical Skills Day will focus on latest techniques, increasing revenue and also maximising clinical care. Leading speakers from around the profession will lecture throughout the day on their various topics.
