Ivin Tan talks about winning an award and the massive impact it’s had on the practice and the team.
How does it feel to have won an award?
We are absolutely delighted to have won several awards, from both the Dentistry Scotland Awards, The Dentistry Awards and the Private Dentistry Awards.
It’s a wonderful feeling of pride and exhilaration when your name is announced! Overall, it’s fantastic affirmation that what we are doing, we are doing well.
It’s a huge achievement and a real honour.
Did you enjoy the awards evening?
The awards evenings by FMC have been so well organised and lots of fun to attend. They’re at great venues and with fabulous entertainment.
All our team have had an amazing time at these events.
Why did you choose to enter the awards?
We love what we do and are always trying to improve, aiming for better, striving for more, for our patients, for our team and for dentistry.
To enter and initially be nominated, then to win an award is truly something wonderful. The fact that we could be considered as one of the best in dentistry is a true testament to our hard work and determination.
Our best asset is our team. So for our wonderful work family, these awards are a real achievement and a fantastic boost to the team morale, and very importantly, recognition for all that we do.
What do you think the awards are doing to the standards within the profession?
Awards such as these really help to raise the bar for standards within dentistry and celebrate this.
Why do you think you won?
We think a combination of things made us winners.
Patient care is our number one goal and our team is our family. We all work as one to achieve this goal and as owners, we cannot stress enough the importance of this as part of our company’s culture. It’s our drive, our passion and dedication to our clinic, our team and our patients.
When this is genuine and authentic, you will always find success.
Have you noticed a difference in patient numbers/in the practice since winning the award?
The pride that comes from being recognised for all that we do and ‘bringing home the award’ is significant.
The team are so energised with the feeling that they belong to something great, as are our patients.
The patients are more than delighted and word of mouth counts for a lot when a patient is deciding on which clinic to attend. So the buzz around the fact that we are an award-winning clinic certainly does help with raising our profile. This is measurable with our increased new patient enquiries.
Will you will be entering the awards again this year?
Yes, we have no doubt we will enter again this year.
Anything else you’d like to add?
We would like to thank FMC once again to have this platform where dentists have the opportunity to showcase what they do and what they have built in terms of their business and practice, as well as share their hopes for the future. It helps to highlight how much our profession matters to us all and to celebrate our successes.
These awards have truly given us more motivation and drive to excel for more in the future. We hope to carry on doing what we love to do and that this, in our own small way, can stand for something in the future of dentistry for years to come.

Kindness is so important right now and we want to take the opportunity to thank all our friends and colleagues who are there to support us in dentistry and we hope for more normal times ahead of us soon.
