Free accommodation, food and electricity allowance, £70,000 – these are just some of the perks offered as part of a new dental job on a remote island.

A vacancy has come up on Dentistry Jobs for a dental officer on Ascension Island in the South Atlantic.

The exciting role is perfect for a qualified and registered dentist looking for a two-year fixed term contract – and a change of scenery.

With a salary in the region of £70,000, the job also offers free accommodation and accompanied status allowance for food, electricity and water allowance.

The successful applicant would also get their flights out, mid-tour and return. It is anticipated that they will travel out either from the UK around 14 July or from South Africa on 16 July 2022.

Where is Ascension Island?

The advert reads: ‘This is a dental role with a difference so if you are relishing exposure to delivering dental services in a very unique working environment, then why not submit your CV to NI-CO today.’

Ascension Island is located 1,000 miles from the coast of Africa. It is currently home to an RAF station, a rocket tracking stations and a signals intelligence facility.

The island itself is the tip of an undersea volcano, which rose above the waves a million years ago. It had a desert climate, with coastal temperatures averaging between 22 and 27 degrees celsius.
