Lifeline in Action – Montana Board Member Helps Patient Get a New Smile!

For the last 16 years, Dr. Christopher Hirt has been providing Billings residents with top-notch dental care. He is an active member of the Montana Dental Association, and has been awarded multiple Fellowships. In addition, Dr. Hirt serves as a Donated Dental Services (DDS) volunteer, where he volunteers his time and talents to helping individuals like Pam.

Pam is a 59-year-old woman who has experienced several health issues in her life, such as degenerative disc disease and rheumatoid arthritis. Additionally, she had to have part of her jawbone removed due to surgery complications. As a result of these medical issues, Pam’s dental health needed attention. Her mouth was in constant pain, but she was unable to afford her necessary treatment. Fortunately, Pam was referred to the Donated Dental Services (DDS) program, where she was matched with Dr. Hirt.

After conducting an initial exam and x-rays, Dr. Hirt concluded that Pam’s remaining teeth were broken and infected. He restored three of her teeth, extracted one, placed four crowns, and donated an upper partial and lower denture, fabricated by Valley Dental Arts at no cost. Pam greatly appreciated the help.

“I love working with Dr. H. and staff. They are excellent! Thank you so much!”
—Pam, DDS Patient

Dr. Hirt recognizes the importance of giving back in his community, and he enjoys the feeling of helping patients like Pam. He also serves on the Dental Lifeline Network • Montana Board of Directors as a way of further giving back through DDS.

“Working with patients through DDS has given the gift of service. Everyone involved shares the feeling of doing something special for a member of our community. I had no idea I could so profoundly change someone’s life simply by giving my time and doing the dentistry I enjoy.”
—Dr. Christopher Hirt, DDS Volunteer and DLN • MT Board Member
