On 6 December 2017, Professor Liz Kay became President of the Oral Health Foundation, after many years supporting the charity on the Board of Trustees. Her term as President ended in December 2019 and the role has been filled by Dr Ben Atkins (both pictured).

Liz is very proud to be the Foundation Dean of Peninsula Dental School and is also a Public Health Academic Consultant working regionally and nationally with Public Health England focusing on inequalities in oral health. In addition, Liz leads a Master in Business Administration (MBA) degree in healthcare at her university in collaboration with the Business School and the Healthcare Learning Company.

Liz is a highly committed clinician and teacher, focusing on the delivery of appropriate dental care to those who find clinical dentistry particularly challenging, and she lectures locally, nationally and internationally on clinical care, dental education, communication and her research.

She is a Shadow Governor of the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust, Topic Expert in Oral Health to a NICE Public Health Advisory Committee, Vice Chair of the British Medical and Dental Students Trust and Chair of the Shirley Glasstone Hughes Foundation Management Committee, which oversees the commissioning of research in dentistry. She also sits on the Editorial Boards of three journals, including the British Dental Journal.

Liz has attracted over £1.2 million of research funding and has published over 150 papers and six books.

Finally, and of great relevance to her work with the Oral Health Foundation, Liz is currently leading a research review of oral health promotion for the National Institute of Clinical and Healthcare Excellence (NICE).
