Using an ecosystems approach, the One Health strategy aims to address several global
health challenges by improving human health, animal health, and environmental health,
with an important aim of preventing or reducing the adverse effects of future epidemics
and pandemics. Because of this shared connection between humans, animals, and the
environment, protecting 1 domain helps protect all 3 domains (Figure).
