Word of Mouth – February 2015

by adminjay

Love is in the air this time of year and at the British Dental Health Foundation things are no different.  Our look into the perfect Valentine’s Day reveals the importance that a healthy mouth really has on our love life while we also discover what is likely to make you much more kissable come February 14.

There has been lots of movement regarding standardised packaging on cigarettes of late, with the Government bringing forward plans to announce the decision before the General Election. We share our delight on this development and ask what it could mean in the future.

In line with the health risks of smoking, we have a special article ahead of No Smoking Day on March 11.  The campaign has already helped millions of people kick the habit and we support them yet again in 2015.

With Coca Cola revealed as the new sponsor of the London Eye, I ask if it is right that one of the UK’s most iconic landmarks had been branded with a product linked to a vast number of oral health and general health conditions and diseases. Sticking with junk food, we also have an article from British Heart Foundation’s Amy Smullen, discussing the petition to ban junk food advertising pre-watershed.

We’ve also got our regular ‘Two Minutes Twice a Day’ feature.  This month we catch up with one of our Trustees and winner of this year’s DH&T Lifetime Achievement Award, Mhari Coxon.

We also have lots of other news from the month and information about this year’s up-and-coming National Smile Month.

I hope you enjoy the issue, and we will see you next month!
