Word of Mouth – February 2016

by adminjay

We’re hugely proud this month to announce the launch of our new school tooth brushing programme – ‘Brush Time’.  Launched at the Nursery World Show earlier this month, and to go alongside our Dental Buddy initiative, Brush Time is a completely free and downloadable resource that encourages good oral health and hygiene and provides valuable support to teachers and educators.

Addressing children’s oral health is an increasing challenge for us as a charity, especially given the latest report showing that childhood hospital admissions due to tooth extractions are yet again on the rise.  The situation as it stands is indefensible and as a matter of urgency something we all need to address.

We issue a comment on these latest statistics and also report on new research that shows if all 12-year-olds were to chew sugar free gum after meals, it could save the NHS up to £8.2 million. A staggering amount. We also look into the practical benefits of sugar free gum while on the go, not just for children but adults too.

Also in the issue we have advice about a glass of water tackling morning breath, some of the most asked questions to our Dental Helpline while registrations are now open for National Smile Month and the Dentistry Show. Be sure to sign up for both of those.

I hope you enjoy this issue of Word of Mouth and have a great week.
