Word of Mouth: July 2018

by adminjay

We would like to start this issue by saying a huge thank you to everyone who has got involved with National Smile Month over the course of the campaign. Your dedication to helping us spread positive oral health messages was amazing to see and we cannot for the next campaign to roll around.

In July’s edition, we start by discussing the highly anticipated news that boys are likely to be offered a vaccination against the Human Papillomavirus. Almost 400,000 boys go unvaccinated every year, leaving millions at risk of developing HPV-related cancers. We believe that this decision is hugely significant and will save countless lives around the country.

In this edition, you will also find a blog post which gives some great tips for children’s oral health, how to get them into good habits early on and maintain them as they grow up.

You will hear more about the recent clamp down on unqualified people who are performing illegal tooth whitening around the United Kingdom. We talk to Karen Coates, Lead Coordinator for the Tooth Whitening Information Group regarding the rise in the number of fines and convictions for these offences.

Finally, throughout the rest of this issue, we touch on subjects like sugar in energy drinks, water fluoridation schemes, our final two Nominate A Smile winners and much more.

Enjoy this edition of Word of Mouth and once again, thank you for your ongoing support.
