Our charity campaign, National Smile Month, may be over for yet another year but there’s no time for basking in the sunshine with a very busy summer in the pipeline.

Preparations for this year’s Mouth Cancer Action Month are well underway and a brand new website for our charity is in construction. We are also in the process of developing an exciting fundraising project which will work at giving our supporters more advice and materials for their events.

In the June issue of Word of Mouth, we have a recap of National Smile Month, including some of the tremendous activities which were held as part of the campaign. With National Smile Month aiming to engage the nation about the importance of oral health and hygiene, we assess what impact the charity programme really has and how we can take it forward in 2018.

We reveal the final recipient of our Nominate a Smile award and announce the winners of the #MySmileySelfie competition, which saw thousands of you send in your Smiley photos. A huge thank you for all the support you have shown over the last few months – the success of the campaign is ultimately down to your hard work and we simply could not do it without you.

Finally, we have articles about interdental brushing versus flossing, aim to clear up the confusion over natural and added sugars, while we also say a very sad goodbye to our long-standing Director of Operations, Sharon Broom, who has recently left the charity after 17 years of service.
