Word of Mouth: November 2018

by adminjay

In November’s edition, I would like to start off by saying a huge thank you to everyone who has helped us raise awareness of mouth cancer this month.

Mouth Cancer Action Month would not be the same without your support and the first State of Mouth Cancer Report shows exactly why your help is needed.

In this issue, we touch on the findings of the report and hear from Oral Health Foundation Chief Executive, Dr Nigel Carter OBE, on what needs to be done to prevent mouth cancer from going under the radar.

You can also find out more information about the main risk factors of mouth cancer and ask the question of whether Brits are willing to change their lifestyle habits to decrease their risk of developing the disease.

The charity also calls for free dental treatment for mouth cancer survivors. Many are left with long-tern oral health issues as a result of their dental treatment, something that we consider to be discriminatory and extremely unfair.

In this issue, you will also be able to read about new research which suggests that there is a link between our tooth brushing habits and our risk of developing heart disease. We will also give you information about the Dental Awards and why you need to get your applications in as soon as possible.

Please enjoy this edition of Word of Mouth and once again, thank you for your ongoing support of Mouth Cancer Action Month.
