Leading the Way: Dentsply Sirona Champions Sustainability in Dentistry

by adminjay

On the occasion of today’s World Environment Day, Dentsply Sirona, the world’s largest manufacturer of professional dental products and technologies, has underlined the need for more action and education on sustainable practices in the dental industry. The company urges dental professionals to take part in the upcoming FDI World Dental Federation (FDI) Sustainability in Dentistry Summit in June, as well as to apply for the FDI 2024 Sustainability Award, which is co-sponsored by Dentsply Sirona and aims to bring global recognition to those who take the most outstanding or innovative measures to further sustainability in dental practice.

Dentsply Sirona invites dental professionals to participate in the FDI Sustainability Summit to learn about eco-friendly dental practices.

“On World Environment Day, a day that advocates for awareness and action for the protection of the environment, we are once again reminded that the time to act is now – our industry needs to become more sustainable and every single one of us can and should contribute,” says Tony Johnson, SVP, Chief Supply Chain Officer, and Executive Sponsor for ESG at Dentsply Sirona. “A good entry point is coming up in a couple of weeks – the FDI Sustainability in Dentistry Summit, which will offer plenty of actionable information and lasting motivation for everyone dedicated to making a difference.”

Dentsply Sirona will be present with a digital booth and panel talk

This year’s FDI Sustainability in Dentistry Summit will take place entirely virtually from June 18th to 20th, from 4 to 5.30 pm CEST daily. The global event will allow participants to find out more about eco-friendly dental practices, available sustainability resources, and impactful initiatives via a selection of insightful presentations and interactive discussions, as well as a virtual exhibition.

Dentsply Sirona, recently named “One of America’s Greenest Companies 2024” by Newsweek, invites participants to visit the digital company booth at the event, which will provide a host of sustainability resources and insights into projects and initiatives supported by the company. There is also a chance to ask questions on the topic of sustainability. Dr. Rainer Seemann, Vice President Global Clinical Affairs and Workflows at Dentsply Sirona, will also be on the ‘Sustainability and Education’ panel on June 19th, discussing educational resources for dental professionals provided by Dentsply Sirona as well as by the FDI Sustainability in Dentistry initiative, of which Dentsply Sirona is a co-founding partner.

Registrations for attendance and sustainability award open now

Dental professionals interested in attending the FDI Sustainability in Dentistry Summit can do so for free on the FDI website here. In addition, dental professionals can apply until July 1st for the FDI 2024 Sustainability Award here which is sponsored by Dentsply Sirona as well as Haleon, Sunstar, Kulzer, SDI and Colgate. The award aims to promote sustainable dentistry practices by selecting the most outstanding or innovative measures taken to further sustainability. The winners will be chosen by the FDI Dental Practice Committee and will be announced in September 2024 at FDI World Dental Congress in Istanbul.

At Dentsply Sirona, we believe that collective action will drive invaluable progress within our industry – as a result we invite everyone to take the time to attend the FDI Sustainability in Dentistry Summit and gain new insights, gather valuable knowledge and find like-minded people to help make our industry more sustainable”, says Andreas Frank, EVP, Chief Business Officer.

“Reducing the environmental footprint of the dental industry is a central concern of the FDI. We are delighted to have dedicated partners such as Dentsply Sirona at our side who help us spread the knowledge of how sustainable practices can be implemented in dentistry,” says Dr. Steven Mulligan, member of the Sustainability in Dentistry Task Team of the FDI. “If you are a dental professional, I urge you to register for the summit and join us in our efforts to make our industry more sustainable.”
