One in five employees looking to change jobs

by adminjay

Nearly one in five employees across the UK say they are likely to change jobs in the next 12 months.

According to PWC UK, younger and highly-skilled workers are most likely to be unhappy in their jobs and seek a rise.

Around 60% said they would prefer to work fully or partially from home.

According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), between January and March 2022 there were more job vacancies than unemployed people in the UK for the first time since records began.

Of the 2,000 people surveyed:

  • Almost 20% said they were ‘very or extremely likely’ to switch employer in the next year
  • In addition, 32% also said they were moderately or slightly likely to switch
  • A rise in salary was the main reason for changing jobs (72%), followed by wanting a more fulfilling job (68%).

Career changes

New figures released by the British Dental Association (BDA) expose the extent of the current NHS dental crisis.

For example, nearly half (45%) have reduced their NHS commitment since the onset of the pandemic. Three quarters (75%) say they are likely to reduce their NHS commitment in the next 12 months. Of these, around 45% say they are likely to go fully private and nearly half (47%) indicate they are likely to seek early retirement or change career

The BDA’s Shawn Charlwood said that the profession is ‘overstretched and underfunded’, forcing thousands to turn away from the NHS.
