The winds of change have come upon dentistry. Generational shifts in our workforce,
a rise in health care consumerism, and changing practice modalities are among the
many factors shifting the landscape of our profession. As I begin my term as the American
Dental Association’s (ADA’s) 159th president, I am reminded of an oft-recited saying:
“We cannot change the direction of the wind, but we can adjust our sails to always
reach our destination.”
