In a groundbreaking report, researchers found that dental students are likely to ‘under-recognise’ and ‘under-report’ racist incidents. While many experienced racism within the dental setting, they report feeling concerned about professionalism – not knowing how and when to respond to patients’ racist behaviour.
The study is well worth a read, with researchers now calling for dental schools and its educators to empower students and ‘help to build inclusive learning and workspace’.
