Mike Lewis a Professor of Oral Medicine and Honorary Consultant in Oral Medicine at Cardiff University, brings to the Board of Trustees highly relevant skills within the field of dentistry including his clinical, educational, research and administrative experience gained in his previous roles.
These include: Dean of the School of Dentistry, Cardiff University; Director of the Dental Clinical Board, Cardiff & Vale UHB; President of the British Society for Oral & Dental Research; President of the British Society for Oral Medicine; and Dean of the Dental Faculty of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow.
Michael is well known in the dental profession having spoken widely in the UK and overseas conferences in respect to Oral Medicine, Mouth Cancer and Antibiotic Resistance.
He also launched the original NICE Guideline for Dental Recall; he was the Dental Member of the Home Office Advisory Committee for Misuse of Drugs on the investigation into the Legalisation of Cannabis; and, lead the inaugural Antibiotic Awareness Day in the UK as Dental Representative on the Advisory Committee for Antimicrobial Resistance and Healthcare Associated Infections.
