surgeon for evaluation of a painful lesion of the right mandibular vestibule. The
patient’s medical history was significant for occasional gastrointestinal discomfort.
She reported that she had recently undergone a colonoscopy with nonspecific findings.
The review of systems was otherwise noncontributory, and the extraoral examination
results were normal. Intraoral examination revealed a tan-beige, focally ulcerated
linear lesion of the mandibular right posterior vestibule (Figure 1). The remaining soft tissues were unremarkable.
